Our priorities

Bfriends Charity has developed three main priorities that align with the Trust’s Business Plan, along with acting upon feedback from ongoing consultation with young people, adults, and professionals.

Priority 1: To create destinations, and opportunities across training and employment.

Bfriends to work closely in partnership with employers, partners, local businesses, and community organisations to create job opportunities and work placements that are specifically tailored to children in care and care-experienced young people. This includes apprenticeships, internships, training programs, and entry-level position opportunities that provide a pathway to long-term employment or higher education.

Priority 2: Community and inclusion.

Bfriends to work closely in partnership with community organisations, to create a supportive environment for children in care and care-experienced young people, to connect with peers, share experiences, and access resources that promote their personal and professional developments. To do this whilst enabling Bfriends to have a better understanding of needs and give the best support possible.

Priority 3: Transitions

Bfriends to work closely with our network of partner organisations, charities and businesses to seek support for young people and adults (known to Birmingham Children’s Trust and its partnership network) that are transitioning into independent living or need additional support as they become adults.
